Stop calling me a supermom.

“I don’t know how you do it.”

This has become one of the most common things ever said to me. While I could feel flattered or mimic a celebrity who years back responded to a similar comment with, “I’m just really organized” <insert eye roll>, I’ve come to loathe this comment.

Why?

It perpetuates the myth of the supermom and superhero, I am NOT!

It’s also a sign to me that I’m not being open, honest and vulnerable with how I show up in the world. If I ever appear to have it all together, I promise you, I’m hiding out.

On any given day before noon, I’ve faced at least one setback if not five. Sometimes it’s the burnt oatmeal or the forgotten school instrument, others it’s the voice in my head telling me I’ll never succeed with my current project.

The difference for me is that over the years, my small and big (I mean BIG) setbacks have allowed (forced) me to understand resilience at a deep level. And I’m here to tell you, it’s not what we’ve been taught.

Resilience Revealed will explore the challenges we face and the realities of facing them. We’ll dive into setbacks in the middle of the mess, not only discuss the ones that have a pretty bow on them on the other side. We’ll explore the hidden (and not so hidden) messages society tells women about how they should behave when things to off-course.

Together, we’ll embrace the fall to enable the rise.
